Overview

What You Will Do 

As a Project Payroll Administrator, you will support the accurate and timely processing of payroll for hourly and salaried employees, with a strong focus on union payroll compliance. This role partners closely with HR, field operations, and finance to ensure payroll is processed in accordance with collective bargaining agreements, company policies, and federal and state regulations. 

 

A Typical Day at Prime Controls 

Process weekly and/or bi-weekly payroll for union and non-union employees with a high degree of accuracy. 

Interpret and apply union collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), including wage rates, fringes, classifications, overtime rules, and shift differentials. 

Ensure proper payroll treatment for union requirements such as: 

  • Prevailing wage and certified payroll (as applicable) 
  • Union deductions, benefits, and reporting 
  • Job classifications and work jurisdiction rules 
  • Audit timecards and payroll data to verify accuracy, approvals, and compliance with labor agreements and company policy. 
  • Coordinate with project teams and field leadership to resolve payroll discrepancies and timekeeping issues. 
  • Prepare and submit union reports, benefit contributions, and supporting documentation as required. 
  • Assist with payroll reconciliations, audits, and internal reporting. 
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records and support onboarding changes related to pay, union status, and job assignments. 
  • Respond to employee payroll questions in a timely and professional manner. 
  • Use payroll systems, timekeeping platforms, and Microsoft Office tools to document and communicate payroll information. 
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all payroll, tax, and data privacy requirements. 

 

What You Will Bring 

The Basic 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred 
  • 3+ years of payroll experience, including hands-on union payroll processing 
  • Working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and union payroll rules 
  • Experience auditing timecards and resolving payroll discrepancies 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict payroll deadlines 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll/timekeeping systems 

 

The Preferred 

  • Construction, industrial, or field-based payroll experience 
  • Experience with multi-state payroll 
  • Familiarity with prevailing wage or certified payroll requirements 
  • Experience working with multiple unions and benefit funds
